Laser vision correction
01 Aug, 2022
Laser vision correction is used to correct sight permanently. Excimer lasers emit ultraviolet light with wavelengths shorter than 350 nm, which need exquisite precision.
Types of Laser Eye Surgery
Retinal laser photocoagulation is used to treat diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy patients may suffer from bleeding or sight loss. Therefore, patients must consult an ophthalmologist before performing any surgery or treatment, whether using laser, needles, or any other mode.
LASIK surgery is one of the most popular elective surgeries. It eliminates the need for glasses or contact lenses.
The best age for laser eye
It is important to note that in some cases, a surgeon might allow children under the age of 18 to go for Lasik surgery, but this is rare. In addition, people over 40 might also need glasses for reading and seeing from long distances after the surgery.
Must know
Laser surgery, LASIK, or eye correction is a safe procedure with low complication rate. Nevertheless, patients need to make medical examinations and consult their doctor before the surgery because it may harm the patient's vision. The ophthalmologist must conduct an eye examination, assess the patient's body, and let him know if they are able to undertake the procedure.
Repeating laser surgery
The laser procedure may be repeated if the patient's eyes are weakened after a while and if the corneal thickness is suitable. This is called a LASIK enhancement or a touch-up.
