The department of pharmacy has a good divisionalized design that subdivided the employees according to their experience and degrees. The Pharmacy provides expanded and updated drug information to all health care professionals through online formulary on Hospital intranet.
Pharmacy department also implement Electronic Medication Error Reporting program all over the hospital to make interdisciplinary synergies through collaboration on improving medication safety and education of clinicians and patients
Pharmacy department also play an active role in multidisciplinary team through different committees to design and implement strategies to create a safer medication use system.
Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee: is a standing committee of the medical staff responsible for assuring that the medications and therapeutic agents used at Dallah Hospital are of the highest quality, monitoring non-formulary drug use, medication use evaluations, adverse drug and medication error surveillance, pharmacoeconomic analyses, preparation of guidelines for use.
Medication Use Evaluation Committee: is a planned and ongoing process to monitor and evaluate the use of drugs at Dallah Hospital. The aim of the program is to help assure appropriate, safe and effective use of drugs. The program involves monitoring of drug usage patterns, adverse drug reactions, formal drug and disease state oriented reviews utilizing approved criteria, collection and analysis of data on drugs recently evaluated by the Therapeutics Committee, and outcomes research. Results and activities are reported to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Antimicrobial Advisory Committee: The primary role is to promote the rational, safe and cost-conscious use of antimicrobials at Dallah Hospital. With the current concerns about resistance to antibiotics, this role is critical in ensuring that the therapy provided is effective and does not contribute to the increasing number of resistant bacteria.
Pharmacy and Nursing Committee: The establishment of the pharmacy and nursing committee at Dallah Hospital has assisted in improving the relationship between the two departments. The purpose of the committee is to resolve issues using a cooperative approach.
